California Land-falling Jets Experiment (1998)
In 1998, with the intent to improve landfalling cyclone track and intensity forecasts, researchers utilized numerous forms of both in-situ ("on-site") as well as remotely sensing instrumentation (including a DOW truck) to observe the impacts of the prefrontal low-level jet (LLJ) on mountainous and coastal regions of California.
