Moisture (in the form of water vapor) is a highly variable - and extremely important - component of Earth's atmosphere. In the spring of 2002, scientists from Europe and the United States collaborated on the International H2O Project, with the ultimate goal of improving the understanding and forecasting of convection. IHOP's duration was approximately six weeks (May 13 - 25 June), and occurred over the Southern Great Plains of the United States.
